Agile methodologies have gained popularity in the IT world. Like Scrum, they have contributed to better quality products, customer satisfaction, faster market times. With Scrum, the product owner gives a Wishlist, and the team breaks it down into sections called sprints. The Scrum master is the center of the Scrum team that will coordinate the activities and teams as the project travels on.

The Scrum master also tries to prevent potential problems. Complete knowledge of the product is what the Scrum master needs to have. Their experience will allow the team to be very proactive to avoid potential roadblocks. The Scrum master will hold all the information for the work formats from previous experience. Scrum masters need to be knowledgeable with the agile methodologies like Lean, XP and Kanban plus they also need to know their weaknesses and strengths.

Evolve a vision

A Scrum master is creating and bringing on teams and giving them a clear view of the product.

Communicate and intermediate

They help with the communication between external groups and their own project team. They will monitor the progress and offer feedback for improved learning.

Facilitate Scrum events

A Scrum master will hold daily meetings to update on project progress and link up activities with the products Wishlist.

Report Progress

They will often hold a demo session to show the progress to the stakeholders.

Manage Releases

Scrum masters produce release plans that include their deliverable deadline.

Addressing Problems

The Scrum Master must ensure the success of the project by addressing problems and taking the right actions.

Continuous Delivery

A Scrum master will encourage automated builds to improve project efficiency.

These types of builds will lower the risk, plus the time and effort that is associated with the integration of larger project units.

They also use simple designs and evade poor project architectures.

There is a responsibility for supporting the customers in the following ways:

  • Find methods to manage the backlog
  • Optimize the product backlog
  • Organize the product backlog
  • Be able to load and coach
  • Implement changes to improve the team’s productivity

There is a vast portfolio of attributes, roles, and responsibilities. The scrum master must adopt all the characteristics then be able to apply them to ensure there are high-quality deliveries done within a time frame. While some may say, the master has the most significant responsibility within a Scrum team the whole team is just as talented as the rest. The team would not be complete without a Scrum Master or any of the other roles.
