The scrum master is the person who manages scrum and the team. It usually is a developer who performs the duty of a scrum master. A scrum master can make or break a team. Every project team requires the services of an excellent scrum master to ensure that all the work is done accordingly and that the best agile scrum practices are followed.

There are specific skills which a scrum master has to possess such as the following:

Leadership Skills

The scrum master needs to have the right leadership skills to manage the team effectively. He should be able to lead the team easily.

Possess Basic Knowledge of Scrum Agile Technology

It is vital for the scrum master to have a basic knowledge of Scrum agile technology as it would be needed to adopt the best scrum practices and for the scrum master to make the team members understand the principles.

Vigilant

Another important skill which is needed for a scrum master to possess is vigilance, the scrum master should always be vigilant to identify that everything is going according to plan and if a problem appears, he should be able to solve it using his knowledge of agile scrum technology.

Insightful

The scrum master should always be insightful and provide the team members would ideas to solve problems. He should actively be using scrum technology to provide the team with the best ideas.

Now, if there is an absence of any of these skills in a scrum master, then chances would be high that the scrum master would be ineffective.

Identify Bad Habits of Scrum Master

It is since if a scrum master doesn’t work effectively, then the team would not be able to deliver and get the job done. Therefore, it is essential to identify the bad habits of a scrum master. It is relatively easy to identify the bad habits of a scrum master as explained below.

Lenient Towards Team Members

One of the easiest ways to identify if a scrum master has terrible habits is by seeing if the scrum master is lenient towards the team members. The scrum master must always be vigilant when it comes to dealing with team members.

Unproductive Team

Another great way to identify will be checking if the team is unproductive. There is no such thing as an unproductive team but rather an unproductive leader. Hence, an unproductive team is a great indicator of a scrum master having bad habits.

Under-Commitment

It means that the team is not able to fulfill what it had promised to a product owner. It harms the company and hence, it is important to identify which team performs under-commitment and then, to have the scrum master held accountably. There might be chances that the product owner had not provided enough details, but it is important for the scrum master to prove it.
